Parents K-12 Resource
Broward County Public Schools has registered you to use Parent K-12, a new, searchable online database for K-12 parents.
As part of Parents K-12’s online offerings, you will be able to:
· search grade-level academic activities in Math, Science, Social Studies/History, Reading/Language Arts
· search general academic resources like “Preparing for the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT)” or “Getting Ready for Grade (your student’s grade) Reading”
· read brief overviews of academic topics that students will be learning about in the classroom
· print fun, academic activities to do with your child at home
· give your child concrete strategies for doing better on tests, completing homework, doing research, and writing reports, and
· listen to resources in English and Spanish.

COMCAST OFFERS LOW-COST INTERNET, AFFORDABLE COMPUTERS AND FREE TRAINING FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES
Low-income Broward County families can now take advantage of a new Comcast program providing low-cost Internet service, affordable computers and free training classes to families with children who receive free school lunches. The goal of Comcast's Internet Essentials program is to help close the digital divide for more low-income families by offering affordable Web service, an inexpensive computer for the home, and free online, print and in-person computer training. Families who have a Broward public school student in the National Free Lunch program should automatically qualify for the Internet Essentials program. They can sign up for high-speed Internet service for $9.95 a month and receive a voucher to buy a computer for less than $150.
